Lombok · Arriving
Landing after dark.
Nobody writes about the evening arrival. It is the part people worry about most.
Almost every guide to Lombok assumes you land in daylight, collect a bag, and drift off into a postcard. Plenty of people don't. The Singapore afternoon flight lands in the early evening, the Bali connections run late, and a delay anywhere upstream turns a mid-afternoon arrival into a night one.
It is genuinely fine. Lombok International is a small, calm, modern airport, and the road south is a normal road. But there is one decision that makes the difference between an easy first night and a stressful one, and it has to be made before you fly.
Here is what actually happens, in order.
Wheels down to villa
Five steps, in order.
1
Fill in the arrival card before you fly
The All Indonesia Arrival Card is free and online, and can be completed from 72 hours before you land. Doing it on the plane or in the queue is the single most common reason people spend an extra half hour in the terminal at night.
2
Visa on arrival, payable by card
Most nationalities get a 30-day Visa on Arrival for IDR 500,000, extendable once. It is paid at the airport and cards are accepted, so you do not need rupiah in hand before you land. Your passport needs six months of validity left.
3
Have someone waiting, not someone to find
This is the part that matters after dark. Send us your flight number when you book and a driver will be in the arrivals hall with your name — no negotiating a fare at 10pm in a car park, no working out which vehicle is legitimate while tired and holding a sleeping child.
4
The drive south
Forty minutes from the terminal to the villa. The road is straightforward but largely unlit once you leave the airport road, and it winds through villages where dogs, scooters without lights and the occasional cow have right of way in practice. It is an easy drive for someone who does it weekly and a tense one for a visitor on their first night.
5
Arriving at the villa
Someone will be there. There is night security on site and the team knows when you are due, so a late check-in is expected rather than a problem. The pool lights will be on, and if you want something to eat when you arrive rather than in the morning, say so in advance and we will arrange it.
The one decision
Arrange the driver before you fly.
Everything else on this page is admin you can do from a phone. The transfer is the only part that has to be settled in advance, and it is the part that changes how the night feels.
A car is IDR 300,000 for up to four people, an SUV IDR 400,000 for up to six, one way — about USD 18 and 24. Send your flight number with your booking and the driver tracks the flight, so a delay is his problem rather than yours. He waits inside arrivals with your name.
The alternative is arriving tired, at night, in an unfamiliar place, and starting a negotiation. It is not dangerous. It is just the worst possible first hour of a holiday.
Common questions
Arriving at night.
Is it safe to arrive at Lombok airport at night? +
Yes. Lombok International Airport is small, modern and calm, and evening arrivals are routine — the Singapore flights and the domestic connections from Bali and Jakarta land into the evening. The thing worth planning is not the airport but the drive: the road south is largely unlit, so arrange your transfer in advance rather than sorting it out in the arrivals hall.
How far is Lombok airport from the south coast? +
About 40 minutes by car to Pantai Serangan, where Wave Lombok sits. That is one of the reasons the south coast makes sense as a first stop — the north of the island, Senggigi and the Gili Islands are two to three hours away, which is a very different proposition at midnight.
Should I book an airport transfer in advance? +
For a night arrival, yes. We arrange transfers at IDR 300,000 for a car (up to four people) or IDR 400,000 for an SUV (up to six), one way. Send us your flight number and a driver meets you inside arrivals with your name. It removes the one part of the journey where a tired traveller is most exposed to being overcharged or misdirected.
Can we check in late at the villa? +
Yes. Standard check-in is from 15:00, but there is no cut-off — the property is staffed and has night security, and the team plans around your flight. Tell us your arrival time and it is simply expected.
Will we be able to eat when we arrive? +
Breakfast is included every morning, cooked fresh from our menu. For a late landing, tell us in advance and we will have something ready at the villa — the restaurants within walking distance close in the evening, and nobody wants to go looking for dinner at 11pm on their first night.
Which flights arrive in Lombok in the evening? +
Scoot flies Singapore to Lombok direct in about three hours, and since June 2026 runs the route ten times a week rather than four, including afternoon departures that land in the early evening. Domestic connections from Bali take about 30 minutes and run frequently into the evening, and Jakarta has the widest choice of times. Schedules change — check with the airline before booking around a specific arrival.
