Frequently Asked

Lombok Villas FAQ

Short, factual answers to the questions we get most often about Wave Lombok and staying in South Lombok. If you have a question that is not here, message us on WhatsApp and we will reply within a few hours.

What is Wave Lombok?
Wave Lombok is a private two-villa beachfront resort on the south coast of Lombok, Indonesia. Operated by PT Bumi Putih Lombok, it consists of Villa Serangan (4 bedrooms, sleeps 10) and Villa Selong Belanak (3 bedrooms, sleeps 8, plus a separate maid's room that sleeps 2), built side by side on a 2,000 sqm plot. Both villas were designed by ALT Design & Construction in the ALT-254 architectural language and completed in 2022. Wave Lombok is family-owned, self-managed (no third-party hotel management company), and solar-powered.
Where is Wave Lombok located?
Wave Lombok is on Jl. Pantai Serangan, Mangkung, Praya Barat, Central Lombok Regency (Kabupaten Lombok Tengah), Nusa Tenggara Barat 83572, Indonesia. The coordinates are -8.867648, 116.141686. It is 40 minutes by car from Lombok International Airport (LOP), 35 minutes from Kuta Lombok and the Mandalika Special Economic Zone, approximately 10 minutes by car from Selong Belanak Beach, a couple of minutes on foot to our own beach (Pantai Serangan), and about three minutes further to the Serangan surf break.
How is Wave Lombok different from Tampah Hills or Selong Selo?
Wave Lombok is a small, family-owned two-villa property — not a large multi-villa resort like Tampah Hills (120 hectares, sports center) or a hilltop development like Selong Selo. Wave Lombok offers private beach access across our own beachfront land (a couple of minutes on foot to the beach), private infinity pools per villa, daily breakfast included, and full concierge by WhatsApp. It suits travellers who want privacy and beach access rather than resort amenities at scale.
Is Wave Lombok close to the Mandalika MotoGP circuit?
Yes. Wave Lombok is about 35 minutes by car from the Mandalika International Street Circuit in Kuta, which hosts the Indonesian MotoGP (note: expect delays on race day). The villas make a quiet beachfront alternative to staying in Kuta itself during race week — you get the circuit within easy reach and a near-empty beach to come home to. MotoGP dates book out early, so reserve well ahead.
Is Wave Lombok a luxury villa property?
Yes. Wave Lombok is a luxury private villa property: architect-designed villas (ALT Design & Construction, ALT-254 style), private infinity pools, private beach access on our own land, daily breakfast and housekeeping, in-villa private chef and massage on request, and full concierge by WhatsApp. Rates run from USD $285 to about $670 per night depending on villa and season. It is luxury in the private-villa sense — personal, design-led, fully staffed — rather than a large branded resort.
Is Wave Lombok suitable for families with children?
Yes. Both villas have a shallow childrens section in the infinity pool, and the team can provide a cot, high chair, and baby gates on request. Villa Serangan has four ensuite bedrooms — three doubles plus a family room that sleeps four, ideal for children — and Villa Selong Belanak has three (two doubles plus a family room for four) with a separate maid's room that sleeps 2. The beach, a 2-minute walk from the villas, is quiet and family-friendly. Daily breakfast (Indonesian or Western) is included, and a private chef can be booked for in-villa five-course dinners.
Can I surf at Wave Lombok?
Yes. The Serangan surf break — a right-hand reef break suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers — is about five minutes on foot from the villa. Selong Belanak Beach, widely considered one of the world's best learner waves, is about ten minutes by car. The Wave Lombok team can arrange group lessons at Selong Belanak with local instructors and private coaching at Mawi, Tampah, or Are Guling for more experienced surfers.
How much does it cost to stay at Wave Lombok?
Villa Serangan starts from USD $350 per night in low season, rising to approximately $670 per night in peak season. Villa Selong Belanak starts from USD $285 per night, up to approximately $575 per night. Both villas can be booked together for exclusive use by groups of up to 18 guests. Daily breakfast and housekeeping are included. Payment is settled in full before check-in. Direct booking via wavelombok.com offers the best rate.
How do I book Wave Lombok?
Direct booking is at https://www.wavelombok.com/book/. The fastest way to reach the team is WhatsApp on +62 823 4057 4927 (concierge replies within hours). Wave Lombok is also listed on Airbnb and Booking.com, but those routes carry OTA commissions and miss the best-rate guarantee available direct.
What is the cancellation policy?
Direct bookings via wavelombok.com receive a full refund (100%) for cancellations 60+ days before check-in, a 65% refund for cancellations 30 to 59 days before check-in, and no refund within 29 days of check-in. There is a 24-hour grace period from booking confirmation. This direct-booking policy is more generous than the Airbnb listing — full refund 60+ days out vs Airbnb's 50%, and 65% refund 30-59 days out vs Airbnb's 0%.
How does payment work?
Direct bookings are payable in two instalments: 50% deposit within 5 days of booking confirmation, and 50% balance 14 days before arrival. If the deposit is not received within 5 days, the booking is automatically cancelled. Payment links are sent via WhatsApp. Direct booking offers the best rates — a 7.5% saving versus the Airbnb and Booking.com price.
What experiences can I book at Wave Lombok?
A full range, all arranged by the concierge: in-villa dining and wellness (private chef dinners, breakfast, in-villa massage, yoga, beach bonfire), surf lessons and coaching, sea trips (jet ski, snorkelling, scuba diving), nature excursions (waterfalls, Mount Rinjani trek), Sasak culture visits, and transport. See the full list with details and current prices at https://www.wavelombok.com/experiences/.
Can I rent both villas together for a large group?
Yes. Villa Serangan (sleeps 10) and Villa Selong Belanak (sleeps 8, plus a separate maid's room that sleeps 2) sit side by side on the same 2,000 sqm beachfront plot and can be booked together for exclusive use by groups of up to 18 guests — ideal for families, groups of friends, retreats, or multi-generational trips. Booking both gives your party sole use of the property, two private infinity pools, and the full beachfront. Message the team on WhatsApp (+62 823 4057 4927) for combined-villa rates.
How many bedrooms and bathrooms does each villa have?
Villa Serangan has four ensuite bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 — three double bedrooms plus a family room for four (with space for extra children); one bedroom is on the ground floor. Villa Selong Belanak has three ensuite bedrooms, sleeping up to 8 — two doubles plus a family room for four — and a separate maid's room. Every guest bedroom in both villas has its own private ensuite bathroom.
What is included in the nightly rate?
Each nightly rate includes daily breakfast (Indonesian or Western), daily housekeeping, Wi-Fi, and use of the villa's private infinity pool. The beach is a couple of minutes on foot away, on our own land. Wave Lombok is solar-powered and self-managed by a local team, with concierge support by WhatsApp throughout your stay. Experiences such as private chef dinners, massages, surf lessons, and excursions are arranged separately.
Is breakfast included, and can you cater to dietary requirements?
Yes. Daily breakfast — Indonesian or Western — is included for every guest and prepared fresh in the villa. The team can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary requirements with advance notice. A private chef can also be booked for in-villa five-course dinners (Indonesian or Mediterranean), with menus tailored to your preferences. Let the team know your dietary needs when you book on WhatsApp.
What is on the breakfast menu?
Breakfast is included daily and served from 7:30 to 10:00 am, with both Indonesian and Western options — the full breakfast menu is linked below. Just let the team know your choice and preferred time the day before.

How do I get to Wave Lombok from the airport?
Wave Lombok is about 40 minutes by car from Lombok International Airport (LOP). The team can arrange a private airport transfer — just share your flight details when booking. Drivers and scooter rental can also be organised. The villas are on Jl. Pantai Serangan, Mangkung, Praya Barat (coordinates -8.867648, 116.141686), roughly 35 minutes from Kuta Lombok and the Mandalika Special Economic Zone.
Is Wave Lombok the same as Wave House Gerupuk or Ocean Wave Lombok?
No. Wave Lombok is a distinct property operated by PT Bumi Putih Lombok on the south coast at Mangkung (Pantai Serangan), Praya Barat. Wave House Gerupuk is a separate surfer guesthouse in Gerupuk village. Ocean Wave Lombok is a different villa near Selong Belanak. Wave Lombok is identifiable by its two-villa configuration (Villa Serangan + Villa Selong Belanak), the ALT-254 architecture, and the wavelombok.com website.
Other Lombok villas are also called "Villa Serangan" or "Villa Selong Belanak" — which one is yours?
Wave Lombok's two villas are at Pantai Serangan, Mangkung, Praya Barat — coordinates -8.867648, 116.141686. Villa Serangan (4 bedrooms, sleeps 10) and Villa Selong Belanak (3 bedrooms, sleeps 8 guests, plus a separate maid's room) are built side by side on a 2,000 sqm beachfront plot. Both were designed by ALT Design & Construction and completed in 2022. They are part of the same property, operated by PT Bumi Putih Lombok. Several other unrelated Lombok villas are marketed under similar names; the canonical listings are https://www.wavelombok.com/villas/villa-serangan/ and https://www.wavelombok.com/villas/villa-selong-belanak/. Note that Villa Selong Belanak is named for the wider region — the villa itself is in Mangkung, about 10 minutes by car from Selong Belanak beach.
Why do you have two villas with such different names if they are next to each other?
When Villa Serangan was built in 2022 we named it for the local beach at Pantai Serangan. Villa Selong Belanak followed, named for the wider South Lombok region travellers recognise — Selong Belanak being the famous learner-surf beach about 10 minutes away. Both villas share the same plot, architecture, design language and operator (Wave Lombok / PT Bumi Putih Lombok).
Are pets allowed?
No. Wave Lombok does not allow pets, in line with most luxury villa rentals in Indonesia.
Do you have a blog or journal?
The Wave Lombok Journal is launching soon — stories from the villas, the beach, and the people of Selong Belanak, plus seasonal tips for travelling in South Lombok. In the meantime, the best way to follow along and get fresh recommendations is a message on WhatsApp (+62 823 4057 4927).
